My favorite art to create is mixed-media work where perception emerges through process—especially painting, drawing, sculptural texture, and kinetic mark-making that invite pareidolia and apophenia. I’m drawn to work that feels discovered rather than imposed, where form develops through hand-eye coordination, material response, and recursive dialogue with the surface. What matters most is not just making an image, but creating a space where recognition, orientation, and embodied seeing unfolds.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in the act of looking closely—at nature, texture, movement, memory, and the shifting play between chaos and form. I’m inspired by surfaces that seem alive, by patterns that appear before language names them, and by the dialogue between hand, eye, and material. Inspiration also comes from perception, orientation, and lived experience, but most of all from staying open long enough for something unexpected to emerge through process.
What would you do with $25,000?What would I do with $25,000? I would reduce my work hours so I could devote more sustained time to painting, writing, and developing my artistic practice. I’d invest in materials, studio needs, documentation, and strengthening the business side of my work, while also creating more space for meaningful relationships and long-term projects. More than anything, I would use it to support freedom, focus, deeper creative development, and sustainability overall.
