From a state of thought to a state of forming or making, there is movement, there is an event that occurs when one has been called, love.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
Though it is imperative for me to create drawings and paintings in a solitary studio format, my favorite type of art to create is the kind that emancipates us from our conditioning. Subversive art today does something radical: It dares to take things seriously. Everywhere we’re invited to experience everything as weightless, distant, divorced from us. Subversive art forces us to take things seriously by unifying performance where every spectator becomes an artist who collaborates with a process.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in that which exists along the crevices of energy and voiceless gaps between the said. Or as Heidegger writes, “its saying wells up from the once spoken yet long since unspoken saying that permeates the rift-design in the essence of language”. All that connects us to the Universe outside of ourselves and our language can be a source of inspiration through the process of making and therefore unifying processes of art and collaboration.
What would you do with $25,000?I would join a residency program at a place such as MMSU in Croatia where I do not speak the native language so that I could focus my time and energy on a collaborative project which risks change through unification. I would use the money to travel and buy supplies for the project as well as any residency expenses that would accumulate during my tenure there. I would also spend money on learning the native language (Croatian in this example) to navigate the culture with a deeper understanding.
