I create art because it gives me a sense of peace. Often I can’t express my frustration about the world via words so I do it with art.

Gentle feminism. I want to inspire the viewer to understand the other perspective without feeling attacked. My latest series of porcelain vases in the shape of female bodies. Yet the title is: I dislike cut flowers. Is a vase useful if it doesn’t want to hold flowers? What does it mean if one places flower into the vase anyway? This is a play on women wanting the world to understand that they’re more than just vessels. To be forced to create more people. We want to be worthy even if we don’t.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration everywhere I look. I am inspired by nature and people and Ideas. In Stillness I feel emotions flowing thru me and I capture them in the material before me. I am also easily excited by possibilities to collaborate with other artists and try things that are out of the ordinary.
What would you do with $25,000?I just graduated from CSCUI with my bachelor in studio art. I had gone back to finish what I had started 30 years ago. I would love to go to grad school. My passion is to create art, but I also feel deeply thankful to my teachers who have taken the time to pass on their knowledge to me. I don’t know how much time I have left, but I would love to give back. My dream is to teach at the university. I am getting older, but my heart is still young and I feel happiest when I’m around creative youth.
