I believe that we all have an inner artist that dwells inside. I lit my inner artist with fire and clay for love and honoring of alchemy.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I enjoy building wheel thrown pottery. I often use different alternative means to modify the form once its thrown on the wheel. This sometimes is sgraffito and slip trailing. These processes create a unique interest in or on ever piece.
Where do you find inspiration?Nature. The alchemy of turning clay, ore and precious metals into a stone vessel thats beauty is wholly in the eyes of the beholder and will be here long after our star has burned out is a an absolute blessing to be witness to. Nature is the most beautifully inspiring muse.
What would you do with $25,000?I would expand my pottery studio and begin offering classes to more individuals with special needs or cognitive decline. Art is magic, clay holds a memory that is worth teaching. For our elders who are loosing their memories of people and place, pottery is a beautiful reminder to them that they too are of the earth and their body and hands holds memory when their mind cannot. Clay stells the story of every touch, gentle and strong. Its sings the song of the potter.
