For me, I get immense joy from any act of making art. Collaging is probably the art form I have practicing the longest and I absolutely love it. My imagination get's to play and it allows me to keep my inner child alive and happy. I have also been shooting film my whole life! Any time I can spend making beautiful images in a darkroom...that is where my soul craves to be again. I haven't' been inside a darkroom since I graduated with my Bachelor of Fine Art's degree back in 2011.
Where do you find inspiration?Geometry, Psychology, Sociology, Humanities, Art history, Math, Physics. I can become inspired on a whim by being awestruck from life's endless beauty. Life is beautiful, even when it hurts. I find that creating through the growing pains has helped me to not only make some of my favorite work, but it helps me work out whatever I've got going on internally. It's the best therapy!
What would you do with $25,000?I would invest it in building out the most delicious art studio equipped with anything from: leather working, metal working to silk-screening. I would also make a painting station, collage station, sewing station and a small darkroom! Which would then allow me to create tutorials and teach small workshops for my community to be able to learn and teach each other new skills! I think now more than ever, we need to come together.
