Making art is as important to me as breath and food. A long time ago I learned I see things different than others, it's my truth and voice.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
As opposed to forced art, my favorite art is the art that has to come out of me. When this happens it feels like a swell and I grab whatever is within reach to release it. It's always my best work. Inspired and clearly not coming from me alone. Aside from that BIG! 7 foot is my comfort zone and I'd love to go beyond that - given the opportunity. They all feel like my children in one way or another.
Where do you find inspiration? In the ether, the wind, a twinkle in an old mans eye, color patterns, an interesting shadow...always from within and beyond. I feel like a janitor sometimes just clearing a path for the art to move through. Music and the other Arts have an impact in what might be the direction and once "in it" it evolves into something that is living and breathing in its own right.
What would you do with $25,000?Build a beautiful multi-piece working studio I have never had my own. List: solid studio door/lock ($1.2k) I have a building it just has no door! Easel + 2 side easels ($1.5k), oils/acrylics/brushes/solvents/mediums galore ($4k), giant linen canvas roll + stretcher wood/frames ($3.5k), camera + lighting setup ($4k), folding worktable, stool & drying shelves ($2.3k), storage/furnishings ($1.5k), clay tools & supplies ($1k) a small kiln ($6k).
