Connect What is your favorite type of art to create?

I enjoy using air dry clay to create sculpted characters that are odd or bizarre in a cute way. I will add recycled items like buttons, ribbons and other objects to complete my vision and give the character a unique story. I enjoy twisting contemporary imagery into something a little more dark, surreal or whimsical. Especially when it comes to traditional motifs around the holidays. It also goes without saying when viewing my creations that I love to play with color!

Where do you find inspiration?

Most my ideas come when I am facing challenges in my life. I will pour myself into projects to help steady my heart. Having always felt like an outsider, I have been drawn to those who are misunderstood all my life. I feel a lot of the characters and art I create are born from my emotions surrounding the concept of being a misfit who desires to be loved. Finding beauty in the unconventional, embracing uniqueness and finding acceptance in being strange.

What would you do with $25,000?

I have been creating and selling my art for many years by starting a small art business I call Spookshow Babe Designs. I make everything I sell completely by hand in my modest home studio. Balancing running a small business while also being the artist is a very challenging process that limits me to what I can accomplish in order to grow. I would invest the full amount into my art business so that I could continue to create more art for more people. It is my greatest hope to be able to succeed!
