I create because it makes me feel free and joyous. It allows me to share my passion for art..helping others realize the same feeling.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I am an intuitive, mixed media artist...usually. starting with a scribble and gestural mark making...layering with acrylic, house paint, crayons, oil pastels, pencils ...using brushes, my hands , layering canvas on top ...creating abstract art....immediate, visceral, raw
Where do you find inspiration?I am inspired mostly by the interactions of my daily life..what I read, eat, music I listen to, news of the day, my surroundings ..My emotions play a big part in the art I create. I take it all in and intuitively start mark making , scribbling to communicate how I am feeling. I allow myself to embrace the imperfect, and layer the work, with other cut up art of mine, while bringing texture, building a story and a history to the piece. The work invites the viewer to see what they feel themselves.
What would you do with $25,000?I would be so honored to use the $25,000 to help young kids to experience the joy of creating art. It is something that you take with you throughout your whole life. The appreciation for the arts helps with other learning as well. It fosters sensitivity, and curiousity. I have worked with kids before, and their desire and uninhibited creations inspire me ..This would be a dream to give a gift that will grow with them..and they can share the joy they get from art with their friends and family..
