Art is only art when it affects us. It can make us impressionable-humans happy, sad, sick, scared, sleepy, alert, aroused, proud, ashamed, relieved, anxious and in love. I want to make art that allows people to feel. The worst kind of piece will cause no reaction at all. There’s no greater joy than sharing art with others, creating a beautiful exchange of energy.
Where do you find inspiration?All of my art stems from nature and the power of the female form. My personal journey of self-love has led me to create works inspired by my own anatomy and transforming it into something magical. I also find myself greatly inspired by my peers and other local artists. They show me things I couldn’t see before and grant me new visions of my own. What would you do with $25,000?25,000 dollars would allow me to lay the frame work for my own art/event space in Brooklyn, my favorite part of NYC. I dream of holding a unique space for art shows, classes and works in progress to grow and flourish. Being a proud Mexican-Guatemalan, I’d also use the money to organize art classes for under privileged kids in Mexico and Youth POC’s in Brooklyn.
