Art is a unique form of communication that fuses the artist’s life and experiences with those of the audience.

I've been making art for over 50 years, and I have traveled trough many styles, techniques and subject matter. Although I still like to create images that emerge slowly and require a lot of concentration, I prefer to make art that develops out of the process with no planned path. If there is such a thing as a collective unconscious, art is how we participate. I love it when my art surprises me and offers possibilities that weren't there when I started. That's always exciting.
Where do you find inspiration?Usually inspiration comes if your not looking for it. Shadows and shapes that trigger my imagination. I spent a whole summer photographing the bugs I encountered while working in my backyard. This led to a whole new digital merging process that I'm still exploring. One of my standbys, if I'm looking for an idea, is to look through the many shoeboxes of old photos that my father took when my sisters and I were growing up. Making a personal image into a public creation is real communication.
What would you do with $25,000?My wife and I have always loved to travel, and have seen much of the world together. Our goal is to live out our retirement in Europe. This money would help to make that happen. I've never had the opportunity to just make art full time, but that's what I plan to do with my remaining years.
