Connect What is your favorite type of art to create?

I love to create landscape painting and also replicate my sister’s black and white photography with acrylic grey scale paints. Creating art that moves a soul. That tells the story and journey of my grief and love for my sister. Art that shows you, there is such thing as healthy healing. Colors that shouldn’t go together but still do. Art that is like a journal entry in time.

Where do you find inspiration?

My big sister Nikki is my inspiration. I call my series Nikki’s Garden because she has planted the seed in me. She was most known for her black and white photography. But an artist of many mediums and a gardener as well. I see her in everything that’s beautiful and things that are not. She’s my inspiration.

What would you do with $25,000?

I’d give back to the community. To our youth. I’d start a Nikki B. Bustos Scholarship for high school students. I currently do seed art with the youth, so they can grief and have a safe place to heal. I’d bless strangers. I’d donate to the local foo pantry and give back to the community. We have some old basketball courts that could use some love. And lastly I’d buy some art supplies and paint a big canvas, as I’ve always wanted to go big!
