With art,I translate my human experience and become aware that these themes and subjects are universal and interchangable with all humanity.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
Art that surprises the artist and has a sense of being! I enjoy making art the most when control of the situation is lost and the form, image, or intention changes from the original concept into something I don't fully understand but can recognize. My favorite medium to use are oil paints, charcoals and my camera. With these tools everything is possible and what is left on the surface can interface between the work and the viewer. It can be an experience or an atmosphere to engage within.
Where do you find inspiration?Memory, history, nature, mystery and myth are my sources of inspiration. I make paintings and drawings as an act of remembrance, curiosity, love, and longing. This cathartic unearthing is a way to work with the wordless, essential observations and images which line the inner walls of my being and the desire is to give them form and dimension on a perceivable surface that others can interact with from their own perspectives and paradigms.
What would you do with $25,000?Time is an artist's greatest resource and that is what this money will facilitate. Time to wander and to do the work necessary for content and then to be able to rework processes to find the soul or essence in those future artworks. This money is necessary for paint, canvas, paper and studio space to work in, as well as exhibition and shipping costs. 25,000 would amplify this artmaking lifestyle into sustainable practice in which time, materials, and space are used to make the work sing.
