I create art because I don't have a choice. As easily as I breathe and bleed, I must create. The ideas literally take over the mind.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
My favorite art to create is whatever consumes my mind at the moment. You have to work hand-in-hand with the creative spark.. And sometimes it just isn't there. But when it is, it becomes almost obsessive. I mean really, it's the idea you can shake or put down. You don't want to think about the 9-5 or adult responsibilities.. You just want to work the mental clay and create. When it's there in the front row, I want nothing more than to grab it with both hands and run til I'm out of gas.
Where do you find inspiration? It's truly whatever "finds" me. Inspiration from a unique scene in a film, an odd insect or beautiful flower, a scrap of plastic or broken toy found on the sidewalk, a rock that looks like a childhood monster, feathers and insect wings.. They're all true treasures. They're kindling that ignites fires in the minds' eye.. And those fires light the way throughout the creative process. Hours fly by in trial and error.. Art medium literally becomes the middleman in the creative madness.
What would you do with $25,000?I would 100% build an outdoor art studio with a pottery room! I've been wanting to get a kiln and pug mill for ages. My current studio is in my dining room/hallway, but I make it work. I'm also really into gardening and growing food to can and preserve, so I'd definitely overhaul my back yard, too! Thank you so much for this opportunity!
