Art is my prayer. An offering of the soul made visible, cast outward to stir something in you, and create a ripple of impact in the world.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
The kind that feels like prayer. Lately that's drawing. I start with sitting in silence, wait for a vision, find the central thread, and let the piece arrive. Nothing is forced. I simply pull thread. The work I love most is always the work I didn't plan for, the kind that shows up unexpectedly through the process. My favorite art is almost always the kind that arises in the moment, and I look back and think...."where did that come from"?
Where do you find inspiration?Inspiration isn't something I chase. It shows up in a shadow, a shape, a dream, a meditation, or a dead scarab beetle on the ground. Found a scarab once and then got lost into its symbology for weeks. That piece basically made itself. My only job is to notice what's already here, and to pull from the mysteries of symbols throughout history and the symbols that have been laid before us to find. Basically, it's a treasure hunt.
What would you do with $25,000?First, 10% to Boys to Men Mentoring and Man Kind Project. Teenage boys and grown men need other men willing to show up for them, and that work matters to me. Then around $2,000 -$3,000 to create a studio space and get new supplies that actually let me bring to life work that will be my next evolution as an artist. The rest will be invested in health and wellness brands to support positive impact on the world. Quiet money. Roots before branches.
