What is your favorite type of art to create?

Jewelry is my first love. It lead me to sculpture and conceptual art, I blend these into wearable art, or sculpture using jewelry techniques. I like to use materials and forms to juxtapose one another. Metals, woods, and stones are my favorite mediums, especially the ones I source from the land myself (like Barb wire, lilac wood, and turquoise). I’m constantly driven to learn more about new metals, stones and woods to fuel my desire to create more!

Where do you find inspiration?

The well roundedness of life inspires me, beauty and ugliness being part of one another, like yin and yang. I draw inspiration from my home, the Southwest, my struggles with substance abuse, legal authority, and socio-economic inequality and use my art as a platform to assert my feelings. I make art to evoke emotions and challenge the status quo. My art is the definition of avant garde.

What would you do with $25,000?

I would buy a mini arc welder , a six wheel grinder, a proper bench, pay someone to build a website for my barbwire and bone ash memorial jewelry, along with my sculpture. The remainder would go towards creating a line of production jewelry based off my original designs to make them more accessible to all as well as reproducing jewelry forged from barbwire into gold, silver, aluminum, titanium, etc.
