I make art so I can stay in the drug and alcohol counseling field and feel stable long term. I love the failure of making art and learning.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
Jewelry based on 10-14th century motifs, specifically heraldry and medieval themes. Mostly silver, gold and platinum. When I cut gemstones, I prefer to cut Montana Sapphires, which are rich in color and beauty.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration from failure, making mistakes and learning from them. To continue practicing and growing. Also ancient architecture, and 16-18th century Alchemy, lost and forgotten metallurgy recipes.
What would you do with $25,000?I would invest in a Lindow rose engine ornamental lathe, from the Plumier foundation (non-profit) to cut small, intricate patterns into gemstones, it is an expensive piece of equipment I’d never afford on my own, beyond that, either travel to England/Scotland to explore ruins and search for additional inspiration, or help support a new jeweler by teaching them skills/ techniques and purchase them equipment they may not have the ability to purchase.
