Art is a process of discovery, both emotionally and mentally. I use unpredictable mediums like OSB strand that influence the final product.

Two dimensional art employing a variety of material and mediums, including but not limited to traditional pen and ink, B&W graphite pencil, charcoal and colored pencils and inks, glazes, or binders on paper, wood, wood strand, and found materials. I’ve also studied and produced Japanese woodblock prints using water-based inks and rice paper. I have graphite pencil portraits in the collection of the International Museum of Civil Rights in Greensboro, NC
Where do you find inspiration?Nature and the human form. The bulk of my subjects start as photos from the natural world. I used to focus on hyper-real depictions and close examinations of subjects, but lately have relaxed and enlarged my view and methods of representing the work, enjoying the obstacles a medium like cheap OSB board presents, forcing me to deal with a more abstracted and obscured final product. It’s the unpredictable aspect that keeps me interested in starting and developing new work.
What would you do with $25,000?Improve my limited workspace for starters. Purchase a projector suitable for generating large image mural work. Feel a bit more free to participate in volunteer projects that frequently arise around here. Take some coursework in areas I have limited experience with, like three dimensional artwork. Purchase tools and materials the always seem to be beyond my budget.
