Painting, for me, is not a choice or a pastime, it’s an instinctive way of being. I don’t separate art from daily life; it’s like breathing.

Mixed media and oil paint usually on a flat surface telling a story of vulnerability, love, birth, life and death. Elements of extreme realism, surrealism and dreamy layered paint. It must show the hand and at the end of the day, for me, the painting should be beautiful. The whole thing, not just the images nor the created narrative but the whole darned thing should be beautiful, even if it has sadness and anxiety. Those are part of life, part of being human.
Where do you find inspiration?Beauty is my inspiration. It could happen in a grocery store line, a chanced glance and smile or reflected warm candlelight in an Amsterdam mullioned window, a child perfecting walking in the park, the sound of someone playing piano through an opened window. An old couple kissing, flickering sounds and light on a cold trout stream, marveling at a Joaquín Sorolla paining of children playing in the Ocean. How did he capture that?Rubins, Sargent, Rembrandt and Klimt? Beauty in their works inspire.
What would you do with $25,000?Build me my first real studio that would be all mine. Separate from the house. I could work naked if I chose and sing Rand scream to the gods and it would be freedom. Pure freedom.
