What started off as a tool to generate acceptance from others, my drawings would eventually evolve to what or who attracted my attention.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
My favorite type of art is realistic graphite pencil drawings, that allows detail and depth that color art typically isnt achieved at times. Be it was portrait, figure drawings or a vintage style period drawings, I use fine lines and cross-hatching on all my drawing. I never use a standard blending tool on my drawings, but rather a 4H or 2H pencil as my blending tool. This helps clean up the cross-hatching while adding additional depth to the previously set graphite.
Where do you find inspiration?Inspiration depends on what I'm feeling at that time. Penned in 2012, I've always said that "Art isn't always about who the artist is, but rather who attracts his attention at that moment."
What would you do with $25,000?I'd add it to my already limited retirement fund, while continuing to help supplement my income and take care of my families needs . The past five years I've created and donated over 22 14"x17" memorial pencil drawings of service member who've died outside or active duty, for The Portraits of Warriors Gallery in Bakersfield, California, and since I don't get paid for those drawings, to win this would be the same amount should I had been paid. Wish would be a blessing.
