What started as a tool to gain acceptance from others, my drawings eventually evolved to reflect what or who attracted my attention.

Receive Text UpdatesMy favorite type of art is realistic graphite pencil drawings, which allow for detail and depth that color art sometimes cannot achieve. Whether it's portraits, figure drawings, or vintage-style pieces, I use fine lines and cross-hatching in all of my drawings. Instead of standard blending tools, I prefer a 4H or 2H pencil for blending. This technique helps refine the cross-hatching while adding additional depth to the graphite.
Where do you find inspiration?Inspiration depends on what I'm feeling at that time. Penned in 2012, I've always said that "Art isn't always about who the artist is, but rather who attracts his attention at that moment."
What would you do with $25,000?I'd add it to my already limited retirement fund while continuing to help supplement my income and take care of my family's needs. The past five years, I've created and donated over 22 14"x17" memorial pencil drawings of service members who've died outside of active duty, for The Portraits of Warriors Gallery in Bakersfield, California, and since I don't get paid for those drawings, to win this would be the same amount I had been paid. Wish would be a blessing.
