David Jarvis

For me painting is a meditation. Grabbing a mental snapshot of a subject real or imagined. Processed, chopped and re-formed on the canvas.

What is your favorite type of art to create?

I am a lifelong freehand painter and illustrator. I work in acrylic, watercolor, and guache. Painted and drawn images.

Where do you find inspiration?

I find inspiration from the surreal and imagined. Take a subject from the "normal" and "mundane" and bring it into my slightly warped transom and spit it back out as something to look at and run your hands over. Paint piled on to create texture.

What would you do with $25,000?

I am a disabled career US Army Signal Corps (Communications, I.T. Engineer) so I'd pay off a few old debts. Save a bit and donate some to my local arts program for children: The 567 Center for Renewal's Young Artist Camp.
