Art is a universal language that allows me to connect with others through shared emotions and visual experiences by using visual elements.

Ice carving is my favorite art form to create. I enjoy the unique challenges that come with it. Ice can be carved (subtractive) as well as sculpted (additive). I love the idea of transforming nature's element of water into a frozen work of art. It combines art and science, requiring technical skill and creativity. I enjoy working with a variety of unique tools. I use specialized advanced powertools as well as simple hand-held tools. Each has it's own distinctive purpose in creating my ice art.
Where do you find inspiration? The ephemeral nature of the medium, the thrill of high-stakes competitions, and the desire to transform raw, clear ice into complex 3D art all inspire me to create ice sculptures. I am driven by the challenge of creating intricate, temporary works that, despite the transient qualities and knowing it will melt, allow me to connect with my inner-self and bring joy to others. Although heavy, slippery and dangerous, I finish with a delicate and intricate sculpture.
What would you do with $25,000?Being the father of three (ages 8-15), I recognize that childhood is fleeting and their years with my wife and I are precious and short. Therefore, I would spend the $25,000 on investing in experiences that will become the foundation of our family's most treasured reminiscence. While they are still young and eager to explore the world alongside us, I want to create adventures that will spark decades of joyful memories. When grown, they will look back on these journeys with warmth and gratitude.
