I have found that the challenges and opportunities that come with working three dimensionally exercises and grows my mind and my body. I love learning new ideas and developing new skills. I love working to understand the quintessential nature of a material and or form. I like to ask question that requests consideration without offering a definitive conclusion. When the objectiveness of materials and the subjectiveness of thoughts intersect, a kind of magic happens for me.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in awe of the natural world, in the mechanics of our built environment, in what I can learn from science and history, and in love of the curious behavior of living things.
What would you do with $25,000?My dream of mounting a retrospective exhibition is something I still hope to accomplish. I have a large collection of works produced over the course of my four decades of making, many of which have never been shown before. I am fiercely independent and self reliant, but work worn. I am in the twilight of my professional practice and can’t make this happen without assistants.
