Dayna Cocchini-Leibowitz

Art sends me to place where it is quiet, calm, and healing. Where time does not exist. It's an escape from the everyday rush.

What is your favorite type of art to create?

Acrylic painting and printmaking with an etching press. When I paint using acrylics, I enjoy creating close-up, realistic images of nature. They are very clean, detailed, and calm. When printmaking, my work is abstract, brightly colored, and chaotic. These are two different techniques with two different styles, each representing both my inner and outer world.

Where do you find inspiration?

All of the natural world; landscapes, animals, plants, and the cosmos.

What would you do with $25,000?

I would buy a garden studio shed for my backyard and a new etching press. Between working both a full-time and part-time job and being a mom of two, life can get incredibly hectic. Like many parents can understand, I rarely get time for myself. I would love to have a small space of my own — a quiet place to step away, breathe, and create without interruption. Having a dedicated studio would give me the chance to reconnect with myself and make art freely whenever I can.
