Making sculptures out of recycled material, natural materials or found objects. I generally start and build my structure with cardboard then I add recycled plastic, aluminum foil to add form. Then I cover my form with paper clay, canvas, mosaic to add detail to my vision. Each step is a ceremonial moment. Before I paint my pieces I project videoart that I create over them, generally I create immersive video using a collage of nature instances of places I have visited.
Where do you find inspiration?Mostly out in nature, forests, the Oregon Coast or memories of travels and my childhood times growing in Puerto Rico, old structures, the ocean, caves. Animals, especially felines and birds inspire me. The elements, water, fire, earth, air are an integral part of my art.
What would you do with $25,000?I would use it to make my home into a home/gallery, immersive healing space to teach and share creative energy. Create a studio outside of my home to offer the community times to immerse in creativity.
