Visual Art is both liberation and discipline- an outlet that is freeing as it is intellectually demanding while allowing me to connect.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I’m most deeply drawn to figurative work—the human form as both subject and language. It offers an endless terrain for exploration, where structure, gesture, and emotion converge. While I experiment across approaches, I find myself continually returning to representational art. There’s something profoundly compelling about honoring the way things exist in nature—translating reality with precision, sensitivity, and intent. I admire the discipline it demands: the careful observation, skill.
Where do you find inspiration? For me, inspiration begins with observation—the quiet, constant study of the faces I encounter in everyday life. Each face carries its own story, its own set of lived experiences, whether visible on the surface or hidden beneath it. I’m drawn not just to physical features, but to the subtle cues: the tension in a brow, the softness in a gaze, the way light settles across the contours of a face. These details suggest stories, and it’s within those suggestions that my work begins to take shape.
What would you do with $25,000?First things first—I’d take my wife and son out for a well-earned get together, steak or maybe sushi. A good meal to reconnect and tell them how much I love and appreciate their patience with what I do. After that, I’d turn my focus toward the many creative projects currently waiting in the wings—ideas that have been patiently sitting idle, not for lack of vision, but for lack of resources. With the means to bring them to life, I’d fully invest in realizing those concepts, giving them life!
