I love painting stories that elicit emotions, and tell stories that captures the dignity, resilience, and unshakable spirit of individuals.

I love to create art that requires skill and manual dexterity. Realistic art is challenging because it demands precision, patience, and a deep understanding of light, anatomy, and perspective. Most details must feel true to life, leaving little room for error. I'm drawn to realism because of that difficulty - the process pushes my skills, sharpens my observation, and the result carries a powerful sense of authenticity and connection. I want others to enjoy in my process and to understand my art.
Where do you find inspiration? My artistic inspiration is rooted in the lived moments of my military service, shaped by the stark contrast I witnessed in Saudi Arabia and Afghanistan. The landscapes, cultures, and human resilience encountered - alongside tensions in a war-torn country, beauty, and quiet daily life - inspire my work. These experiences continue to guide my visual language, blending memory, emotion, and a true caring for those I depict, into each artwork I create. There are many stories I am inspired to express.
What would you do with $25,000?With the funds, I would establish a community art group, and grow the Dakota Artists Guild in Rapid City, South Dakota. I would secure a small gallery space where members could show and sell their art, and outfit my studio with essential art supplies. I'd host exhibitions, workshops with guest artists, and open studio sessions, offering art instruction to all ages. The goal - to create an inclusive space where creativity thrives, skills grow, and community connections are built through the arts.
