Watercolor because of how fluid the main character can become as I’m working on a piece. A dragon can easily fly out of a patch of flowers with watercolor.
Where do you find inspiration?The life I’ve lived, the experiences I’ve had. I carry my memories deep inside and no matter what medium I’m working with, those memories and experiences are what shape my world and my work. The newest experiences have been magical: Becoming grandparents changed us forever. It brought back the sense of whimsy that I had been missing.
What would you do with $25,000?If I were to win this prize, I’d rebuild the “garage” that I’m currently using for storage and all my wood working tools are out there as well. I need a space that is weatherproof. My current space leaks from above and the concrete sweats from below.
