Art becomes me. For instance, the painting I submitted is a book and album cover called Bloom. My work is my signature. The world my canvas.

My favorite type of art tells a story. Storytelling is the oldest form of art. Some of these images are still found on cave walls. If you listen to the blues, that howl is penetrating because it touches something deep inside you that you intended to keep hidden in that cave. My paintings, songs and writing are the three forms I employ to deliver a message that is meant to rouse souls from their slumber. The infinite is calling, and I lend my voice and brush to draw the heavenly into the profane.
Where do you find inspiration?I’ve been blessed and cursed with visceral experiences. Some of these were voluntarily initiated. On other accounts, my participation presupposed me. This dynamic is not a thing of the past. If anything, it’s something from the future. It’s telling me to walk in faith, with sound and color, arranged in a way that attracts and repels. My work hypnotizes and then snaps like jaws. Once you’re in its tractor beam, you will be transformed. I live to help people care about life and to find real love.
What would you do with $25,000?It’s been heavy on my heart lately to give back. I haven’t had the expendable income to make a difference the way I’d like to. With $25,000, I would put on an event in my community that shows people how to use art, music and writing to transform feelings into insights. We people are charming, with a strange ability to internalize events. Without direction, this can harm us. With direction, we can externalize the truth that’s written on our hearts. I believe we have a duty to share what’s within.
