I create art to explore social topics such as culture and feminism. I love creating it because it connects with and advocates for humanity.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
My favorite type of art to create is oil painting or charcoal drawing, visually representing naturalistic or imaginary situations that express different life circumstances and human relationships. I enjoy painting and drawing about culture (especially my Mexican culture), my experiences, and topics such as toxic relationships, abuse, gender injustice, etc. What I love about creating this type of work is that people connect with the emotions evoked. I love how it creates a moment of reflection.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in artists, essays, books, films, and articles that explore social interaction among human beings. I enjoy analyzing human behavior and speaking about injustices. I also connect everything I consume with my own experiences; in part, art helps me grow as a person and, at the same time, I hope it helps others get to know themselves better. I enjoy learning constantly, and that learning fills me with ideas and perspectives that | use to illustrate cultural and social topics.
What would you do with $25,000?I would use $25,000 to continue paying for my education. I really enjoy learning and I feel that education is fundamental for the future. Unfortunately, university is expensive, so I would use the money to prioritize my learning and one day make a positive impact in my community with my knowledge. It would be a great opportunity to improve myself for the day I stop being a student and become someone who can provide something valuable.
