Art helps me to release the worries of the world. I express my feelings and hopefully others feeling's as well. Art is inspirational.

My favorite art to create is something that I developed on my own. It's a watercolor method that I created from the inspiration of my ancestors. It is a Pre-Columbian artform that began, using tree bark. It is a silhouette cutwork and evolved into using tissue paper imported from China when it was introduced to Mexico in the 18th Century. I may paint backgrounds for my characters with oil or acrylic or I can use watercolor on paper, cut it out and finish using a floating frame.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in the beauty of our world. I love colors but I also like Black and White creations such as black and white photography. I'm inspired by people, places and by my meditations and spiritual visions. I am inspired by people, their courage, their ability to heal and triumph over darkness. I am inspired by my grandson that is Autistic and how he works so hard to speak. I am inspired by his sisters that treat him gently and hold his hand or hug him if they notice he's afraid.
What would you do with $25,000?I would love to help people and children heal through art. I have helped to teach about Day of the Dead to children and was able to do it with crafts. For the past 18 years I have helped to create crafts for children but noticed that the adults wanted to join in as well. The philosophy also helped to ease the pain of loss. I have worked with a shoestring budget and it would be nice to actually have the funds to create projects that I have not been able to in the past.
