I got a 35mm camera when I was 16 years old and I was hooked. I had a darkroom in my basement and when the film came alive, I was in love with photography! The ability to capture life and the world around me, is incredible. I love to capture people in all types of settings and my favorite pictures are of nature and street photography. I love to capture an osprey catching fish and leaves as they change colors in the fall. Then, I love taking pictures of landmarks, graffiti and everyday life.
Where do you find inspiration?I believe you can find inspiration in normally unnoticed abstract things or in grand places like Yellowstone Park. I like to switch my focus on finding beauty in things you normally would just pass by or in contrast spending a day or two somewhere magnificent and trying to get a different view of it. I get inspiration when I open my mind to be free and explore what’s around me. Photography is a great adventure to see life around me and capture the world. I appreciate it now even more at 70!
What would you do with $25,000?If I were to get the prize, I’d like my two oldest grandchildren to get braces for their teeth. Also, I haven’t gotten a new camera in 12 years so it would be wonderful to get one.
