I make art because I’m obsessed with getting better and it helps keep me grounded.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I do all sorts of visual art but my favorite is likely photography because it allows me to walk and clear my head while also being creative.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in the people and traditions of where I’m from, The quiet everyday parts of Eastern Kentucky and Appalachia that is overlooked. A lot of it comes from walking, noticing the old home places, family history, home cooked food, the little old ladies that wear their hair in buns and old men who still plow a garden and rock on the porch. That feeling that a certain scene leaves behind knowing it will never be this way again.
What would you do with $25,000?I am currently remodeling my grandparents little country home here in Eastern KY. I inherited it about a month ago and it is where I will raise my family and spend the rest of my days. I would love to be able to have an art studio in or near my home even if it is just a little shed with big windows. That's what I would do with the money. Build me a little art studio out back.
