Donna Converse

I am 75 and just read about Grandma Moses. She lived to be 101 and loved painting. I relax and enjoy life more when I paint. Thanks!

What is your favorite type of art to create?

I am doing landscapes. I also found abstracts are wonderful to do. I want to learn about painting teepees as I am Native American mostly with a little European ancestry. I want to express my Native spirituality through art.

Where do you find inspiration?

I went way into the wilderness area when I was in my early twenties. I had a backpack and tent and went to an area way up in the mountains. The water I drank was pure. I later found out that this area was visited by my ancestors maybe even thousands of years ago. I want to recreate this wonder and beauty to others through my paintings.

What would you do with $25,000?

I would donate some art materials to elementary schools as I used to be a teacher. A studio and art materials would also help. I am raising my grandchildren so I need a special place to reflect. Then I can help my kids as they are special needs and have ADHD.
