Art is my space for prayerful intention, a release of emotions and expression of ideas, hope, life, love & deep insight to encourage us all.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I prefer abstract. I use different tools, including my fingers, balloons, knives, cardboard, foil, whatever can help me create. I also like fluid art and using a hairdryer. Mostly, I want my paint projects to hold meaning and have intention which brings good and turns negative feelings into a space of optimism and hope. For instance, when I know someone will be passing away, I will lean into that pain to produce something a value and great meaning for the family.
Where do you find inspiration?I am inspired by hopes and dreams as well as pain and grief. I love to give and giving from a place of love is my heart. Love goes into every stroke of painting I painted with my six-year-old grandson over the weekend for instance, and helped him create a Mother’s Day present, such a special memory for him and for later in his life and hers.
What would you do with $25,000?My sister Sandy has been the caregiver of our other sister Betty for 25 years. This has been a labor of love. Betty will soon pass away and I would love to send Sandy somewhere very special where she can experience a warm beautiful ocean and white sandy beach … peace for an extended amount of time… where she can grieve and receive harmony and life and purpose. It’s been a very strong season for all of our lives. I know this would give my sister Sandy great joy as well.
