I am compelled to produce dignified imagery featuring my community's Humanity. Vibrant & Happy. My contribution to #TheCulture.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
My artist name is ~.THE.DoT., & my fave outlet is Mixed Media on canvas. Each piece begins as a sketch, evolves through acrylics and oils, and is brought to life via layered elements such as Swarovski crystals, diamond dust, African wax prints, and metals...creating richly textured, vibrantly colored pieces that merge fine art with cultural storytelling.
Where do you find inspiration?I love creating artwork that honors accomplished people from my community. The ones that use their gifts to uplift others. In song. In film. In Civility. I'm moved to produce imagery that echoes my NY roots: The amazing women that poured into me, & the men that protected me. Individuals who've overcome every moved goalpost & every sabotaged effort....shining, in their victories. Finally, I'm realizing it's ok to look inwardly for inspiration. According to feedback, my efforts are appreciated. :)
What would you do with $25,000?My art practice is at a critical stage of growth, so I’d utilize the $25,000 for administrative fees & scale: Funds would support housing stability to maintain consistent production, as well as travel & accommodations to deliver newly completed works (For example, to The Hip Hop Museum :). I would also invest in business infrastructure, including LLC formation, copyrights, trademark registration, & professional support such as art appraisal marketing to increase visibility and revenue.
