Making art is a way for me to explore myself. I enjoy knowing that there is still some mystery to my life and some plot twists yet to come!
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I love using found items referred to as 'trash' or 'useless' as inspiration. Whether for their graphic imagery or to use as stencils, anything destined for the dump feels important in its new role as part of the artmaking process. In terms of content and style, I see all the work I do as individual journeys that straddle the line between control and surprise...the best ones having some of each. It's a conversation that happens at the canvas in real time, and feels like life.
Where do you find inspiration?I get inspired by momentum. Over the years making art it continues to feel more integral to the process of living a complete life. Artmaking has been a partnership that has continued to be there, growing and evolving. So as I look back and see the progress and acceleration, I feel inspired to keep pushing!
What would you do with $25,000?I have some ideas...securing a larger studio with natural light...participating in more fee-based competitions for exposure...and traveling, to attend the exhibitions in person, meet people involved and experience the world.
