What is your favorite type of art to create?

As a lighting designer and photographer, my work feels to lean towards fine art. I like to try to play with color, scale, texture, motion all using light as my medium. This often shines through with experimentation.

Where do you find inspiration?

I never would have thought that a candle holder would be the source of inspiration for me. A geometric candle holder I saw laying on top of a trash pile, made me want to play with negative space. That one candle holder then turned into a stained glass lamp in my living room. I realized inspiration is often formed, shaped, reimagined and passed along, waiting to be the catalyst for the next.

What would you do with $25,000?

With the reward I would teach. Often lighting is overlooked or not understood by upcoming and even admittedly professional photographers. I was gifted with the ability to know how to shape and form light to achieve a look. I would like to be a source of knowledge to inform others on how to do such as well. Hosting master classes, where not only I explain but also a hands on experience. Knowing is only half the battle. Doing is what makes the knowledge to reality.
