I want to evoke emotion, capture the audience and tell a story, all through lighting.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
As a lighting designer and photographer, my work feels to lean towards fine art. I like to try to play with color, scale, texture, motion all using light as my medium. This often shines through with experimentation.
Where do you find inspiration?I never would have thought that a candle holder would be the source of inspiration for me. A geometric candle holder I saw laying on top of a trash pile, made me want to play with negative space. That one candle holder then turned into a stained glass lamp in my living room. I realized inspiration is often formed, shaped, reimagined and passed along, waiting to be the catalyst for the next.
What would you do with $25,000?With the reward I would teach. Often lighting is overlooked or not understood by upcoming and even admittedly professional photographers. I was gifted with the ability to know how to shape and form light to achieve a look. I would like to be a source of knowledge to inform others on how to do such as well. Hosting master classes, where not only I explain but also a hands on experience. Knowing is only half the battle. Doing is what makes the knowledge to reality.
