Connect What is your favorite type of art to create?

I love abstraction. To try to create images keep the mind from references back to what is known. I want my work to become a mirror into the viewers psyche. I try to created images that speak to the soul and force it to question, reconstruct and articulate what it is seeing. And by doing so, perhaps I can remind the viewer that we are more than the boxes, classification and titles society defines us as.

Where do you find inspiration?

In nature, in the relationship of all things, in the congregated hustle and bustle of human interaction, in the feelings, the push and the pull, the unspoken echoes of cups haphazardly left by two lovers having to say goodbye. In acts of humanity and the cries of other artist. Inspiration is everywhere.

What would you do with $25,000?

I would use the funds to create a new series of large paintings that address the changing times. As we move away from the things that make us more human, we need art to speak to the core of those issues. As we surround ourselves by machine driven perfection, and algorithms, I want to explore the human entity and the beauty of its imperfection. The miracle of our existence and our relationship to time, nature and being. We can go boldly into into the future if we know what and who we are inside.
