I love to create art because it helps people of all walks of life to connect in ways beyond what we can express with words.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
My favorite type of art is surrealism. I love to create things that look like it could have come from a dream. The subconscious mind has always been very fascinating to me because it’s us at our rawest, most vulnerable, and most creative. While growing up, I took delight in recounting my dreams; they were always so wild and vivid! I was a big daydreamer as well. Now as an artist, I get to bring those things that only I could see into reality. I think we all should explore a little bit of that.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in the things that bring me joy, for the most part. Family, whimsy, and also I LOVE a good color palette! But not just joy, I’m very in tune with all my emotions just as most artists are. Much of my work explores different emotional states. Intense joy, confusion, regret, curiosity, overwhelm, etc. I pair this with my knowledge of color psychology to intensify those themes.
What would you do with $25,000?I would love to pay down some of my student loans, and use some of it to put towards a studio space where I can create without distraction. My next big goal is to get a work vehicle to transport my paintings to shows and supplies to all of my mural sites.
