I create art because I am compelled to make it. These carvings are an act of resistance. I lose myself in the art and I feel better for it

I carve hands and also play the saxophone and the guitar. I guess my favorite art is any creation that takes me out of myself. I relish the creative process and know I’m in it when I lose track of time and become completely focused on the task at hand, whether carving, or playing an instrument.
Where do you find inspiration?I’m inspired by external events. Often my art is a reaction to something that has happened in my life or the world at large. Upon reflection I’ve just had the realization that those external events are triggering my emotions, so perhaps the inspiration is there? But further, behind the emotions, what’s that stuff back there? It’s scary, it smells funny, it moves me, is that the source of my inspiration? Instinct? And further behind, are those 9 ladies, dancing? Daughters of Zeus and Mnemosyne?
What would you do with $25,000?Get another tenor saxophone, travel, maybe get a nice sailboat.
