Large steel sculptures as public art--my passion for placing my work in front of audiences in the public realm allows me to share my dreams, stories, and imagination as it moves through the work. Where do you find inspiration?As a child, I had a lot of imagination and started "making things" at a very young age. An avowed introvert who has had a profound hearing impairment since birth, I retreated into three obsessions: art, introspection, and exploring my dreams. This coalesced into my subject matter as an expression of these dreams combined with playful imagination. I turn these expressions into steel sculptures and invite others to experience a reminiscence of their own childhood dreams and imagination.
What would you do with $25,000?An influx of cash to my studio would allow me to not only purchase supplies to continue the work on my large-scale steel sculptures, but I would also have the funds to offset shipping expenses to place my work in public art spaces around the country. I am also interested in funding an artist residency in my studio compound to assist other artists as they explore the art welding process.
