Ceramics are my favorite medium. Although I haven’t had the means to practice for some time, it is an art form I think about constantly. There is something deeply rewarding about crafting a tangible object that is both aesthetically pleasing and functionally useful. While the process is often peaceful, it constantly tests one's patience. Ultimately, I view ceramics as a universal art form that people have related to throughout history.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration just about anywhere. Some of my inspiration comes from watching movies, listening to music, reading and experiencing new and past art. A majority of my inspiration comes from everyday experiences, being out in nature or visually solving a problem.
What would you do with $25,000?I would use the $25,000 to buy a van. A van would give me the room to pick up larger material components for projects and I would no longer have to depend on others for deliveries to galleries. Overall, this type of vehicle would allow me to have the room to scale my art not only in size but distance. After getting the van, I would purchase the material needed to build a potter's wheel and buy a large kiln. If any money was left over I would use it to rent a space solely for creating.
