Starving because I never could bring myself to get a “real job” so I can do as much music and art as my little dyslexic self can handle

Receive Text UpdatesMy preference would be to paint on large canvas frames in either oil or acrylic. Surrounded by paintings with heavy chroma. Creating a world with my images, each with an abstract story. The first motions from the hand, a "first time" quality, like an improvisation on a musical instrument; hold's the most life for me. I try to maintain that experience throughout my process. The moment in between moments, that have not arrived at a conclusion; holds the life of the work.
Where do you find inspiration?I am fascinated by history of the world. Playing and writing music, Delta blues, melancholy jazz, Old Hollywood, 70’s NYC, the Hatfield’s and McCoys, all things Basque, people’s complicated lives and stories… and rock and roll!! German Expressionism, John Singer Sargent, Bowie, Hans Hoffman, imperial Roman portraits, Egypt and Toulouse-Lautrec. Dinning room table conversations with my family and friends. Outsiders, the other; those that don’t fit, but don’t mean no harm. Life’s a party.
What would you do with $25,000?Rent a studio and make as many paintings as I could within the time that the prize money would allow. I hope this exposure created here, will introduce my art to a bigger audience. Hopefully to building a following or create access to a gallery large and important enough that creating art will become a financially self sustaining venture.
