My art explores Puerto Rican historic architecture and landscapes, using light, texture, and color to reveal their character and presence.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
Textile art has become my favorite medium because it feels alive in my hands. I’m drawn to the way colors and textures from different yarns and fabrics interact; sometimes intentionally, sometimes unexpectedly. I like to call those moments “accidental discoveries,” when layers shift and create new shadows, patterns, and depth I didn’t plan for. It turns every piece into both a story and an exploration, where I’m not just creating something meaningful, but also uncovering new design possibilities
Where do you find inspiration? My inspiration lives at the intersection of architecture, nature, and memory. Having spent over a decade away from my homeland, I carry a deep desire to return. In the meantime, I recreate it through my work. I draw from the landscapes, textures, and colors of my childhood in Puerto Rico. Exploring the rhythm of the Caribbean, the warmth, and the organic imperfections. Each piece becomes a small fragment of home.
What would you do with $25,000?This opportunity would allow me to give back to my family back home, which is deeply important to me. It would also help me invest in materials and expand my practice, giving me the freedom to push my work further and reach more people. Ultimately, I hope to continue creating pieces that not only tell my story, but also inspire others to reconnect with their own.
