I create art to share my joys... and my sorrows... and my awe of the spiritual inter-connectedness of all that is.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I most enjoy performing and sharing moments with an audience. There's nothing quite like becoming enrapt in a common "feeling" or emotion that elevates mere seconds to a realm beyond time, wherein we are united, in the truth of our shared experience, honoring our mutual understanding of our precious, inexplicable gift of life... no conflict, no judgements, no regrets... just a brief and profound surrender to being present together, feeling something deeply and knowing how remarkable that is.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration from the courage of others, from the drama and the peace in nature, and from the sacrifices, accomplishments, and kindnesses of those who walk with me through life, of those who came before me, and of those determined to find a way forward long after I have made my physical exit. We are given so much to perceive and appreciate and so much from which to learn; inspiration is all of it wrapped into one amazing birthday present of a life.
What would you do with $25,000?I will create my installation, at the center of which a poppy will be lit. Visitors will contemplate my vocal setting of "In Flanders Fields" as they unfold a crepe paper poppy to add to the exhibit, with a note of support for a veteran struggling with permanent injury and/or the effects of PTSD or mental health challenges (an average of 17.6 veterans take their own lives daily), along with notes in memoriam and appreciation. There’s also gas, groceries and healthcare. ‘Violin lessons?
