At 74, painting became my refuge after losing my husband. It’s how I find peace and strength, proving it’s never too late to create art

I havee always felt that abstract art is my favorite way to create because it gives me total freedom. For me, it is not about painting something perfect, but about playing with colors, textures, and shapes to see where they take me. I love how this style lets me share my feelings and my life experiences in a more relaxed, personal way. It is simply my favorite way to express the joy of creating and the many stories I carry with me after all these years.
Where do you find inspiration? My inspiration flows from the vibrant dance of colors and the unpredictability of shapes. I find true creative joy in using a palette knife, as it allows me to apply paint with total freedom, building layers and textures that tell their own story. I am drawn to creating unreal figures—forms that don't exist in the physical world but feel alive on the canvas. To me, inspiration isn't about copying reality, but about exploring the infinite possibilities of my imagination
What would you do with $25,000?I would first bow my head in gratitude to God for this blessing; it would be a sacred gift for my soul. This prize would allow me to travel and seek the hidden beauty in new horizons that feed my art. My greatest hope is to connect with artists who reflect both immense talent and a profound sense of humanity. I want to share the stories that live behind the colors with kindred spirits, proving that art is a divine bridge that transcends time, brings light, and heals the heart.
