I love to create because it’s the best game humans have invented, the most exciting, the most useful, life affirming.

I love creating emphatic and meaningful paintings. I find the most fulfillment after spending weeks on a canvas, letting failure after failure build up, creating an almost wet concrete like surface and then something clicks and I'm able to take the components of previous failures and make something that seems true and heavy, something that seems like an artifact that has always existed somewhere in my mind and the world.
Where do you find inspiration?I look to the past. Artists like Auerbach, Freud, Rouault, Kossoff have already spoken the language I'm slowly learning. I find the inspiration from history creates a circuit within me that charges my efforts towards the future. Perhaps I'll be part of that history one day.
What would you do with $25,000?I would spend it on paint and survival. Stouffers microwave meals and coca cola.
