Emily Heinrick

I make art to get in touch with my body and its connection to the material. I create to explore what cannot be verbally communicated.

What is your favorite type of art to create?

My practice focuses on print media and charcoal drawings. I have started to experiment with other common materials to add texture. I’ve currently been making surrealist work while exploring how I define identity and the influence of societal pressures

Where do you find inspiration?

I find a lot of inspiration in music. Feeling something in the music I can’t quite put into words motivates me to try and create it in a physical way. I look to people in my life for inspiration too. The things about them that seem important to me I always try to include in the work some way.

What would you do with $25,000?

This seems like a really easy question to a broke art student. I would use this money to complete my Fine Arts degree and use some of it to upgrade my supplies for when I don’t have school studio access. $25,000 would be game changing money for me in being able to continue my practice in education and after.
