When I create art from my own joy, magic happens. And people buy it. And during the transaction, smiles and story enter the space. Amazing.

I enjoy painting coastal scenes. First I paint a dark base color, often black. I use white chalk to outline a scene.‘I paint up to but not fully over, the chalk lines using brushes and a palette knife. When all is dry, I wipe the chalk away, revealingooosnof the base color. And boilà - joy on canvas!
Where do you find inspiration?I load my colorful brushes with happy memories of life on Mobile Bay in Alabama. My joy on canvas springs from those magical bay summers filled with sunshine, open arms, family wharf gatherings, sailing, trawling for shrimp, and peace. My grandparents had a summer home ‘over-the-bay,’ on the Eastern Shore in Point Clear. We spent magical summers there, from the last day of school, straight through to Labor Day, with grands, aunts, uncles and cousins. These memories make my art happen.
What would you do with $25,000?I have no idea, but I actually can imagine investing it in my art supplies and studio space.
